Wanted: Dominions of Darkness™ City-Sim Owners

Owning Your Own City-Sim in World of Darkness

The Dominions of Darkness RPG platform takes the inconvenience out of owning and running a roleplaying Sim, giving you more time to enjoy what you love to do most, create fun events, exciting storylines and of course, Roleplay! Plus, you join a growing, vibrant and interactive Admin community that supports you and your player base, and gives you a voice on game mechanics in the Council of Admins.

Full Sims or Homesteads
City-Sim owners may create a Dominions of Darkness city as a Full Sim of either 20,000 or 30,000 prims. Or, Dominions of Darkness cities may also be built on Homesteads. Whichever one you choose, these Sims must be Adult sims due to the adult themes and horror aspects of the roleplay.

Full Sim Dominions of Darkness cities may be named after any large city in the world with populations of approximately 500k or more. Full Sim owners have the option of choosing to base their cities on smaller cities or towns if they wish.

Homesteads are considered smaller cities and can be named after any city in the world with populations below approximately 499K. Homesteads cannot be large cities, such as New York, Chicago, Detroit, etc. due to their prim and visitor limitations.

Once a city or town has been created, no other Sim may open under that name unless that city/town closes for some reason. In this situation, a new City Sim Owner may take over that City's name and rebuild it on their own Sim. You may also sell or transfer ownership of your sim, though approval of that person must be voted on and given by the Council of Admins if they are to continue being a Dominions of Darkness city under the previous city's name.

  • Owners of DOD cities own their own sims, administrate their own cities, and are given access to the Dominions of Darkness HUD and Players System.
This allows Roleplayers to earn experience points for roleplay in your city. You can run your city as you see fit, keeping to the Dominions of Darkness player and system rules.

  • No Joining Costs or Monthly Fees:
Owning a Sim in Second Life is already very expensive and Dominions of Darkness recognizes that even operating a Homestead can be prohibitive for many. In Lieu of any cash/Linden membership fee to join or be a City Sim Owner, Dominions of Darkness has instead instituted a simple Prim Donation Program — the maximum number of prims required is based on the size of your Sim.
    • Prim Donation Program:
      • Full City Sim owners with 30,000 prim Sims:
        • Allocated for Monthly Subscriptions:
          • Agree to have a maximum number of six (6) Condo/Apartment Skybox rentals placed on their Sims and available for potential DOD Monthly Subscription Members. This averages out to approximately 1200 donated prims a month IF all of these skyboxes are rented by DOD Monthly Subscription Members. If no subscription members select your city for a rental, no skybox is put out in your Sim's airspace for that month.
        • Lifetime Memberships (limited availability):
          • Agree to provide the following Rental Bonus Prims when renting to a lifetime member on your own Rentals:
            • Silver Lifetime Members: 25 extra prims (over and above your standard for the rental) if renting on your Sim.
            • Gold and Platinum Lifetime Members: 50 extra prims (over and above your standard for the rental) if renting on your Sim

      • Full City Sim Owners with 20,000 prim sims:
        • Allocated for Monthly Subscriptions:
          • Agree to have up to four (4) Monthly Membership Skyboxes available. This averages out to approximately 800 donated prims a month if all of your skyboxes are rented by subscription members. If no subscription members select your city for a rental, no skybox is put out in your Sim's airspace for that month.
        • Lifetime Memberships (limited availability):
          • Silver Lifetime Members: 25 extra prims (over and above your standard for the rental) if renting on your Sim.
          • Gold and Platinum Lifetime Members: 50 extra prims (over and above your standard for the rental) if renting on your Sim

      • Homestead City Sim Owners:
        • Agree to have two (2) skybox condos available for Monthly Subscription Members. This averages out to approximately 400 donated prims a month if all of your skyboxes are rented by subscription members.
          • Monthly Subscribers:
            • The Dominions of Darkness monthly subscription program provides each monthly subscriber with a Complimentary Private Skybox Condo and 100 Prims on any associated City Sim.
            • Subscriptions are only available for purchase the first three days of every month.
          • Lifetime Memberships (limited availability):
            • Silver Lifetime Members: receive a complimentary 25 extra prims (over and above the standard provided with your rentals) when renting on your sim.
            • Gold and Platinum Lifetime Members: receive a complimentary 50 extra prims (over and above the standard number provided with your rentals) when renting on your sim.

  • City-Sim Owners do not need to hassle with calculating or giving out weekly experience points.
This is done by the DOD Administrators and frees up City-Sim Owners to spend more time building RP in their cities, running events, and roleplaying within the DOD cities. They also do not need to be bothered with updating Player's Character Sheets or exchanging XP when Players wish to purchase new skills and abilities. This ensures XP is awarded fairly and equally across the DOD universe, and that all Players across the DOD Universe are treated the same. However, City-Sim Owners are allowed to award bonus XP for special events and other RP activities within their sims. Other special awards may also be available to City-Sim Owners.

  • City-Sim Owners are encouraged to advertise, promote and build their player bases.
Special spiffs may also be available to help promote your new sim in its first few months to increase visitor interest.

  • City-Sim Owners will have a seat on the DOD Council of Owners.
The Council will deliberate on changes/upgrades to the game, new character classes, new City Sim applications, and other rules related to gameplay and the DOD Player's HUD. If a City-Sim has multiple owners, all owners may attend but their city only receives one vote. The DOD Council of Owners is chaired by the Dominions of Darkness Administrator, who will only vote if there is a tie.

  • Custom City Web Page on www.dominionsofdarkness.com.
Cities will have their banners in the main Dominions of Darkness landing platform (located in Miami), and a web banner dedicated to the new city on the Dominions of Darkness website Cities Tab, encouraging Roleplayers to explore a true world of darkness.

  • City-Sim Property Rentals and Donations:
Dominions of Darkness City Sims are fully expected and encouraged to recoup the cost of their sims by setting up their own donation jars, as well as renting apartments, houses, condos, shops, etc. to players who have made your sim their homes. City-Sim owners are not allowed to sell or barter Experience Points, nor are they allowed to advance Character levels. This is all done as a function of the DOD HUD.

City-Sim Owners have full jurisdiction over their sims. If a Monthly Subscription member has violated your sim's rules and is banned by you (or temp banned) from your sim, Dominions of Darkness Admins will relocate that member's rental to another City Sim.

HOW TO BECOME A DOMINIONS OF DARKNESS CITY SIM OWNER

  1.  Be a member in good standing of Dominions of Darkness.

  2. At least one of the City Sim owners must have a minimum of 4 months combined experience time in DOD as both a Roleplayer, and Mod or Storyteller. (Time as a Beta Tester counts.)

  3. Submit an email application via this website or a notecard in SL outlining:
    1. Your SL Name and establish how long you have been a Dominions of Darkness Member.

    2. The SL Names of any additional Owners, if you are not the only one.

    3. The name of your new city. This can be any city in the world, though one of the primary languages used in world must be English, and it cannot be a City already taken in Dominions of Darkness.

    4. Include if you will be opening an Adult Full Sim or an Adult Homestead. Sims and Homesteads must have an Adult rating due to the nature of DOD roleplay. Full Sims can be any non DOD-established major cities around the world, such as San Francisco, New York, Chicago, London, Paris, Kiev, Shanghai, Berlin, New Delhi, etc. Homesteads are also encouraged, but should be smaller cities or towns.

    5. The opening story/backstory premise that your city will launch when it opens. For example, is your city currently run by the Camarilla, or overtaken by Anarchs and Sabbot? Does it have a current Prince, and if so who? Is it being overrun by Zombies, supernatural street gangs, or Clan/Tribe wars fighting over territory or who should be named Prince of the City, etc.? Is your City a haven of the Garou, Vampires, Hunters or shared? Or perhaps is it currently virgin territory inhabited by Humans and Gifted Humans?

    6. A timeframe for when you would like to open your Dominions of Darkness City Sim.

    7. Any additional information regarding your new city that you would like to be considered with your application.

  4. Your application will be reviewed by the Dominions of Darkness Owners Council. All owners have an equal vote regarding proposed DOD Cities.
